Keynote address:
Publications Censorship During the U.S. Occupation of Japan, 1945-1949
Our keynote speakers will be Eiko Sakaguchi, Curator, and Amy Wasserstrom, Manager, of the Gordon W. Prange Collection at the University of Maryland. The keynote presentation will address a number of language-related aspects to the censorship of publications in Japan during the U.S. occupation from 1945-1949 including a proposal that Japanese convert to an entirely Romanized language.
At 5:30 p.m., a reception with snacks and a cash bar will start off the program. During this time a silent auction will be held featuring items donated by our generous area merchants and NML Board Members and friends. There will be entry forms for the door prize drawing. Buffet Dinner will be served at 6:45 p.m., followed by the keynote address.
Entree Choices: 1) Baked Chicken with Fine Herbs 2) Herb-Crusted Salmon 3) Vegetarian Lasagna.
Entrees will be served with tossed green salad, baked potatoes, vegetable medley, rolls, and coffee, tea or ice tea & chocolate mousse for dessert. |
